Innovative Doors Set New Standards in Performance and Design

Beautiful aesthetics, lasting durability and superior thermal performance are a few of the phrases that describe Kawneer’s AA®250 and AA®425 Thermal Entrance Doors, which we introduced to you in April 2011. Breaking from tradition to provide a new visual look, the doors offer a solution to the increasing demand for thermally efficient products with benefits that extend beyond industry-leading thermal performance.

"This is another great innovation by Kawneer for the best thermally broken doors in the market to date," said Brian Bauman, President of Kitchener Glass in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. "These aluminum doors, as you will see, have been engineered to deal with the winter problems on the framing, sweeps and threshold like never before. The glazing contractors have asked for these features and now Kawneer has answered back with these two well-designed systems."

Together with our high performing frame, the doors offer improvements in thermal efficiency compared to a standard door. And, with our new thermal design and industry leading corner construction, which has four Sigma deep penetration and fillet welds plus mechanical fastening at each corner, the AA®250 and AA®425 Thermal Entrance Doors are the ideal solution for any commercial or institutional application requiring strength and performance.

AA®250 and AA®425 Thermal Entrance Doors deliver a new aesthetic with a 2-1/2" narrow stile and 4-1/4" wide stile, respectively. The doors are also offered with a range of top and bottom rails. Horizontal mid-rails are available in 1-3/8" and 8-1/4" sizes. Additionally, we offer a 10" bottom rail option. The 2-1/4" door uses a 14 mm polyamide strut thermal break that accommodates a dual finish as well as various combinations of hinging and locking hardware, which include: offset pivots; butt hinges; continuous gear hinges; MS locking; concealed vertical rod exit devices; and rim exit devices.

"Kawneer is more than just another metal supplier," continued Bauman, "and their dedication and commitment to product development has allowed organizations, like Kitchener Glass Ltd., to be held in high regard."

Available finishes include our range of anodized and painted finishes, including fluoropolymer and solvent-free powder coatings, in several color choices. The doors were debuted during the AIA National Convention and Design Expo in New Orleans, May 12-14. To learn more about AA®250 and AA®425 Thermal Entrance Doors visit our interactive web page on
