As part of our ongoing initiative to provide more solutions that maximize energy-saving potential, our Versoleil™ SunShade Outrigger System offer has been expanded to accommodate two additional Kawneer curtain wall systems. Currently available on many of our “captured” curtain wall systems, the outrigger sunshade is now available on two of our more popular structural silicone glazed (SSG) curtain wall systems: 1600 Wall System®2 and 1600 SS™ Curtain Wall. A new outrigger system connection has been fully pre-engineered and tested to work seamlessly with the vertical SSG mullion of the curtain wall systems.

The Versoleil™ SunShade Outrigger System is pre-engineered for the following curtain wall systems:

> 1600 Wall System®1 (Captured)

> 1600 Wall System®2 (SSG) – NEW!

> 1600 Wall System®5 (Captured)

> 1600UT System™1 (Captured)

> 1600 SS™ Curtain Wall (Captured)

> 1600 SS™ Curtain Wall (SSG) – NEW!

The seamless incorporation of Versoleil™ SunShades into any building envelope provides increased flexibility for the design team while setting the industry standard for form and function – all from a single-source supplier. A building’s aesthetics are further enhanced when the sunshades are applied to the sleek look of the SSG curtain wall systems. The current variety of Versoleil™ SunShade Outrigger options are available for use on SSG curtain wall systems – 1600 Wall System®2 and 1600 SS™ Curtain Wall – and are designed and tested to withstand the stresses resulting from wind, snow or other weather-related factors.

Strategically placing Versoleil™ SunShades allows for maximum daylighting while minimizing direct sunlight and reducing solar heat gain – increasing occupant comfort and the building’s efficiency. And, when combined with Kawneer curtain wall systems, Versoleil™ SunShades can help earn Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®*) credits in several categories.

This addition is also supported by Kawneer’s online Solector™ Sun Shading Estimator tool, which helps determine how key variables like outrigger depth, blade options, etc., impact the shading performance of outrigger sunshades. Using some broad assumptions, the Solector™ Sun Shading Estimator can compare various shading performance scenarios using Versoleil™ SunShades and provide an estimate of cooling energy and cost savings on an annual basis. Energy savings are calculated based on solar heat gain avoided due to exterior shading of the façade.

Updated estimating and take-off support as well as shop drawings are available by contacting your customer service representative.
