350 IR Entrances Expand Their Impact

Seven years ago, to meet the growing need for hurricane and impact resistant products, we introduced the 350 Impact Resistant (IR) Entrance (used on the Cancer Center of Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Florida, see “Spotlight" article). Over time, we have continued to test and expand our 350 IR Entrance product capabilities, incorporating improved material and new hardware. As a result, we now provide additional glazing options for Large Missile Impact (LMI) applications in addition to expanded Locking/Exit Device options.

New glazing options for LMI applications include 3M VHB Glazing Tape and Dry Glaze Gaskets. The Locking/Exit Device Options include: Adams Rite 2180 2-Point Dead Lock; Adams Rite G86 Concealed Vertical Rod Exit Device; Calibre 9100 Concealed Vertical Rod Exit Device; Dor-O-Matic HH1490 Concealed Vertical Rod Exit Device; and Von Duprin 9947 Concealed Vertical Rod Exit Device. All of these options are listed in our price catalog and are available for download from the resource center of KawneerDirect.com. Additional 350 IR Entrances information including architectural details, 3-part guide specifications, CAD details, BIM models and NOA reports can be found on kawneer.com.

Time to Train: Kawneer Training School Updates

Although the commercial construction market is growing increasingly competitive and signs of market stabilization are slow to emerge, 2010 will have opportunities. Now is the time to get your organization ready to seize those opportunities. Where to start? Training.

Kawneer has always committed substantial resources to training and regularly conducts training school sessions to help customers identify opportunities and better understand how to go after them. We currently conduct classes on the design and application of storefronts, curtain walls, entrances, windows and many other architectural aluminum systems.

Module offerings include:
Module I - Basics of Framing and Entrances
Module II - Basics of Curtain Wall

The time to prepare for the future is the present. By gaining a deeper knowledge and understanding of the industry, we can all face the future, and the challenges it may bring, head on.

The schedule and registration forms are available on the KawneerDirect.com resource center under the “Training” dropdown menu. Or contact the training department directly at 770.248.2789. More schools continue to be added, so be sure to check often for updates.
