As we reach midyear, I look back at our accomplishments and am pleased thus far. From new product introductions and exciting project work, to education and awareness, Kawneer and Traco continue to lead the industry and bring our customers even more opportunities for success. The ongoing market challenges have not held us back from delivering on key initiatives and we continue to focus on driving efficiencies in our business and yours.

Often I speak of our continued investment in product development and in each newsletter we give you a look at recently introduced products, or enhancements made to systems and solutions already on the market. This issue is no exception as we share our new Trifab® 601 Series Framing System, launched in May, as well as enhancements to our Versoleil™ SunShade platform. Each product addition and improvement is developed based on customer and market feedback, and added to our range of solutions to not only help create better, more high-performing buildings, but also help you meet your bottom line.

In May we attended the annual AIA National Convention and Design Exposition in Washington, D.C., May 17 – 19. During the show we featured a range of products and solutions from Kawneer and Traco that demonstrate our ability to provide almost everything under the sun – from curtain wall and storefront framing systems, to windows, sun control and entrances. These included several of our innovative, high-performance ultra-thermal, sun control and window offerings. Each year the AIA Convention provides us with the opportunity to connect with architects, customers and media, show them our products and systems and learn more about industry requirements. This year, traffic to the joint Kawneer/Traco exhibit doubled and unofficial reports show an approximately 28 percent increase in attendees over last year. The buzz across the show floor was very positive and it seems everyone is optimistic that the market will soon improve.

As we continue to expand our portfolio of products – having now combined offerings from both Kawneer and Traco into one complete solution – we have found more opportunities to increase our presence in building applications. For example, The Moderne, featured in this issue of Connections, is a multi-family residence that incorporates the Kawneer/Traco bundle including our 1600 System®1 Curtain Wall, 500 Standard Entrances and TR-700 Window Wall. Located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the 30-story “Oasis in the Sky” is scheduled to be completed in August and is a prominent feature in the Milwaukee skyline.

Through continual dialogue with customers, architects and industry experts we are better able to determine what our future challenges are and how to address them so we don’t just meet, but exceed, market expectations and requirements. It is these conversations that help drive our efforts today and in the future.
