Kawneer and Traco Take New Products to Washington, D.C.

In May, Kawneer and Traco spent several days in Washington, D.C. exhibiting at the annual AIA National Convention and Design Expo. Throughout the show we featured a wide range of products and solutions from both Kawneer and Traco that demonstrate our ongoing commitment to innovative, high-performance systems.

Among the featured products this year were ultra-thermal, sun control and window offerings including:  Versoleil™ Sunshade, NX-4000 Series Thermal Window, AA®4325 OptiQ™ Ultra Thermal Window and InLighten® Light Shelf. We also debuted the new Trifab® 601 Series Framing System. An enhancement to our popular Trifab® platform, the Trifab® 601 Series Framing System combines a 6-inch depth with superior thermal performance to deliver flexible options for a wide range of building applications.

Kawneer was also among a limited number of exhibitors providing education opportunities on the expo floor within the CES Theatres. During the 60-minute session, which was standing room only, Henry Taylor, Kawneer’s Architectural Service Team Manager and Chairman of the Building Envelope Contractor Committee, offered an exclusive look at Thermal Barriers in Aluminum Fenestration Systems.

This year we not only doubled traffic to our booth, but also saw an increase in overall show attendance. Unofficial reports show that attendance increased approximately 28 percent over last year. Talk on the show floor was very optimistic and most attendees felt that a positive change in the market was on its way.

During our time in Washington, D.C., Kawneer was also recognized by Architectural Record’s annual Excellence in Advertising Awards. The awards acknowledge the most effective advertisements in the building and design marketplace and this year Kawneer received a “Winner” designation. This is the fourth consecutive year we have been honored by the publication.

Developed to support the launch of our OptiQ™ Ultra Thermal Window, the winning advertisement, featured in the Single Page category, was praised by judges for its creative presentation, clean composition and unique portrayal of the product’s capabilities. The depiction of the brain with the separation of the left and right brain emphasize the product’s ability to not only enhance aesthetics and design capabilities, but the intelligence and engineering capacity used to create OptiQ™ Ultra Thermal Window’s groundbreaking features. Judges noted the unique design approach and commended the advertisement’s simplicity, stating that it was “clean and easy to understand.”

Advertisements qualifying for the award were published the first three months of 2012 in Architectural Record, in the January/February issue of Greensource, or ran online during the same time period. Six leading architects from around the U.S. made up the 2012 final selection committee. More than 150 ads were judged in two categories: content and graphic design.
